About resellCI

resellCI was created for one simple reason: we throw away too much that still has value.

In Jersey, perfectly good items are discarded every day—not because they're broken, but because replacing them feels easier than reusing them. On a small island, that habit adds up fast. We built resellCI to make reuse the easy choice.

Jersey produces more waste per person than the UK mainland. Each year, around 45,000 tonnes of waste are sent to incineration. That creates real challenges: limited space on a small island, high costs to process and ship waste, and useful items permanently removed from circulation. Much of this waste doesn't need to exist at all.

resellCI is a hyperlocal circular economy platform. We let people in Jersey give unwanted items a second life—without shipping, without distance, without friction. Every item sold on resellCI keeps waste out of incineration, cuts carbon emissions by avoiding shipping, reduces demand for new manufacturing, and extends the life of products that still have years left. No warehouses. No vans crossing borders. Just local collection, within miles of home.

The maths is simple—and powerful. If just 1% of Jersey residents sell 5 items a year, that's 5,500 items kept out of waste. If resellCI reaches 15,000 users by Year 3, that's 75,000+ items circulating in Jersey instead of being discarded. On a small island, small behaviour changes scale fast.

resellCI isn't about pushing people to consume less by doing more. It's about using what already exists better. A jacket worn a few times. Furniture that no longer fits a space. Items with value left in them. When reuse is easy, people choose it. When people choose it, waste goes down.

resellCI won't solve Jersey's waste challenge overnight—and it doesn't need to. Every item reused matters. Every listing is a better choice. Every transaction keeps value in the island. On a small island, small changes make a big difference. That's why resellCI exists.
